IN BETWEEN

FASHION | TEXTILE | GRAPHIC | SUSTAINABILITY | YINGER PRIZE 2019

This collection draws inspiration from Flatland and Wassily Kandinsky’s art theory, which emphasizes art as a force that extends beyond material form. Beginning from my own lived experience, the work is rooted in exploring the in-between—spaces where passion, creativity, and inner life expand without fixed boundaries.

Kandinsky’s language of abstraction becomes a guiding framework: bold geometry informs the silhouettes, while vibrant graphics and textures echo his exploration of color, form, and rhythm as carriers of emotion and meaning. The garments act as interpretations of his vision, translated into fashion as a medium that merges body and movement with a sense of expressive depth.

A variety of techniques contribute to the layered expression of this theme: watercolor painting and digital pattern design create fluid visual narratives; laser cutting and laser printing generate precision and rhythm; while 3D molding and resin work bring sculptural depth to the surfaces. Each process becomes part of a larger dialogue between fashion and art, grounding the collection in craft while extending toward abstraction and transformation.

These works embody the transformation of theory and art through symbolism—initially painted by hand, then digitally developed into print patterns.
